Robert J. Timothy, DDS, MS

After graduating from the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry, Dr. Timothy joined the US Army dental corps and completed an AEGD one-year residency in general dentistry. After fulfilling his 3-year commitment, he returned to the Intermountain west and practiced in the southeast Idaho town of Montpelier. After 19 years in private practice, he returned to the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry to study Oral Maxillofacial Radiology. Upon graduation, he started his academic career at East Carolina School of dental medicine where he is currently an assistant clinical professor and the division director of radiology. Dr. Timothy is a fellow of the American Board of Oral Maxillofacial Radiology.

Samuel Bollwinkel, DDS, is the creator and founder of 3D Infusion where he concentrates on bridging the gap between innovation and application.  He has over 18 years of private practice experience and thrives on the successful integration of CBCT and CEREC technology.

Doug Fettig, CPA, MBA

Doug is a Consultant within the Dental Services Group at Aldrich CPAs, Advisors and Consultants, ranked as one of the top 100 accounting firms nationwide. With over 25 years of business and consulting experience, Doug has the unique ability to understand dentists’ needs and help them grow efficient and profitable practices. His insight allows him to effectively communicate business concepts to dental practices while strategically addressing tax, investment, and retirement planning needs.

Doug has spoken at numerous dental seminars, academies, study groups, and vendor forums around the country and he is known for his energetic, engaging, and entertaining speaking style. In addition to his dental speaking roles, Doug has been an Adjunct Faculty Member at Portland State University’s College of Business. Trenton D. Watrous, CPA, CFE, CVA Partner

Trent’s primary focus at Whisenant, Stewart, Watrous & Associates is leading the Dental Services Practice. His professional experiences as a tax accountant, auditor, expert witness, forensic accountant and trusted advisor prepared him for the challenges of today’s business climate. Trent serves dental clients in roles which range from oversight of practice transitions to practice startups to growth management within dental practices. Trent has filled the roles of negotiator between parties in crisis, court appointed arbitrator, and interrogator of persons of interest. Difficult environments are his comfort zone.

Trent particularly enjoys working with clients that have complex challenges. Whether working to improve profitability of dental practices that struggle from limited cash flow, or analyzing volumes of data in his role as an expert witness, Trent is comfortable with confronting difficult issues and developing solutions to alleviate them.

Based upon high ratings from audiences, Trent has become a sought after speaker to a variety of groups. He has been an instructor on fraud and tax matters to Special Agents of the FBI on topics ranging from financial statement fraud to tax matters to money laundering. Trent often speaks to groups on a variety of topics ranging from Dental professionals on practice success to types of white-collar crime to industry specific business or accounting matters. Trent has taught physicians how to steal, bankers to read financial documents, and auditors to detect deception.

In addition to forensic matters, Trent’s professional experiences have provided him the ability to be a “go to” resource for clients struggling to develop viable solutions to deep problems. From dental practices to manufacturers to professional service firms, Trent’s knowledge of accounting coupled with a compassion for people has provided clients with results not considered possible.

Trent earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from Freed Hardeman University. He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in Tennessee. Trent is also a Certified Valuation Analyst and Certified Fraud Examiner. Beginning his career with KPMG in Richmond, Virginia, Trent has also served in the role of chief financial officer of a manufacturing entity.

In his personal time, Trent enjoys cooking with his wife, beekeeping, or “cruising” in his vintage 1948 Willys Jeep.

3D imaging with cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) and other 3D modalities is the path to the future of dentistry for major improvements in radiographic diagnosis, treatment planning and digital dentistry. Ample research has shown that 2D imaging has reached the end of the road in terms of potential for improvements. CBCT technology has provided a low dose and relatively low cost means of providing 3D imaging of the maxillofacial region for dentistry and has the potential to become an essential component of a modern dental practice. This course is designed to familiarize each participant with the fundamentals of cone beam computed tomography technology and its many applications to dentistry.

 Learning Objectives

  • Understand CBCT principles, applications, radiation dosimetry, risks and the importance of applying selection criteria.
  • The interpretive process: Learn how to go through a volume and Identify abnormal findings and the importance of a systematic review.
  • Review 3D anatomy and the radiographic signs of disease

-What to Expect-

  • CEREC Intro- Experience CEREC CAD/CAM hands on, from digital impression to custom abutment fabrication. Doctors will scan and fabricate using CEREC. (Limited to 15 doctors)
  • Digitally Guided Implantology hands on- digitally guided implant surgery planning and guide fabrication, including live guided implant surgery (Live Patient)
  • 3D imaging- Seeing and doing more. Introduction to 3D CBCT radiography, diagnosis, interpretation, hands on acquisition of images for diagnosis, treatment planning and presentation. Will also cover introduction to airway analysis and medical billing opportunities.
